Course Description

Sweden's family reunification permit allows the spouse or cohabiting partner of a Swedish resident to join them in the country. The Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket) handles the process entirely online, and Sweden is known for being relatively open toward family migration. But the process still involves income requirements, relationship proof, and sometimes a maintenance requirement. This course covers everything you need from the first application to the permanent residence permit.

  Module 1: Eligibility, Sponsor Types and Relationship Recognition Spouse, registered partner, and cohabiting partner (sambo) of at least 2 years eligible, sponsor types (Swedish citizen, permanent resident, or person with a long term residence permit), same sex partnership full recognition, and key differences depending on sponsor's residence status.
  
  Module 2: Maintenance Requirement and Application Process Migrationsverket maintenance requirement for non Swedish citizen sponsors (sponsor must show stable housing and sufficient income for the whole family), Migrationsverket online application, required documents (marriage or partnership certificate, passport, photos, housing proof, relationship evidence), processing timelines (typically 6 to 12 months or more), and biometric enrollment through the Swedish Embassy.
  
  Module 3: Arrival, Residence Permit and Family Integration Residence permit card collection, Swedish personal number (personnummer), work authorisation (no separate work permit needed), Swedish Integration Programme (SFI language course), pathway to permanent residence after 2 years on a family permit, and Swedish citizenship eligibility after 5 years.
