Course Description

Malta offers two distinct permanent residency pathways the Maltese Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP) through investment, which we covered in the Golden Visa section, and the standard long term residency available to foreign nationals who have lived and worked legally in Malta for 5 years. This course focuses on the standard long term residency pathway the route that workers, graduates, and spouses most commonly take and covers the full application process through Identità, the residency card, and Malta's citizenship pathway for long term residents.

  Module 1: Malta Long Term Residency Framework and Qualifying Conditions Identità (formerly Identity Malta) as the governing authority, 5 year continuous legal residence requirement for standard long term residency, which periods of residence count (work permit, student visa, family reunification) and which do not, EU Long Term Resident Permit versus standard Maltese permanent residency card, and the distinction from the investment based MPRP.
  
  Module 2: Application Process and Documentation Application to Identità, required documents (current and historical residence documents, employment history in Malta, proof of stable income, health insurance or Maltese public health access, accommodation proof, criminal record from Malta and home country, integration evidence), language requirement consideration, and processing timelines.

  Module 4: Maltese Citizenship Pathway Maltese citizenship for exceptional services by direct investment (MEIN programme separate from standard residency), standard citizenship by naturalisation (requiring many years of residence and strict conditions), citizenship by marriage to a Maltese citizen, and the Maltese passport as an EU passport giving access to all 27 EU member states for residence and employment.
