Portugal's work visa and residence permit system is managed by AIMA, and this course teaches you every step from job offer to approved residence permit with clarity and precision.

    Module 1: Portugal's Work Visa Framework and AIMA AIMA (Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo) as the governing authority (successor to SEF), work visa categories (employed versus self employed versus highly qualified professional), overview of Portugal's approach to attracting international talent, and why Portugal has become so popular among professionals from Brazil, India, and Anglophone Africa.

    Module 2: Employer Sponsorship and Job Offer Requirements Employment contract requirements, employer registration with the Portuguese Social Security system (Segurança Social), declaration of responsibility from the employer, absence of suitable candidates in the local labour market (not always required for shortage occupations), and documentation standards.

    Module 3: Work Visa Application at the Portuguese Consulate Type D work visa application, required documents (employment contract, criminal record, health insurance, financial proof, accommodation confirmation), consulate appointment process, processing timelines, and what to do if the consulate appointment backlog is long.

    Module 4: Arrival, AIMA Residence Permit and NHR Tax Regime AIMA appointment for residence permit after arrival, NIF (tax number) registration, NHR (Non Habitual Resident) tax regime explained — a 10 year flat tax incentive available to first time residents in Portugal (subject to current government review), healthcare enrolment through the SNS (public health system), and pathway to permanent residency and Portuguese citizenship after 5 years.
