Course Description

France has quietly become one of Europe's most ambitious countries for attracting international talent especially through its Passeport Talent programme, which fast tracks residence and work authorisation for highly qualified professionals, researchers, investors, and startup founders. For everyone else, there is a standard work authorisation route through the employer and DREETS (the regional labour authority). This course demystifies both pathways and makes the French work permit system completely understandable.

  Module 1: France Work Permit Framework and the Role of DREETS How France's work permit (autorisation de travail) is integrated into the residence permit system, employer's application to DREETS (Direction Régionale de l'Économie, de l'Emploi, du Travail et des Solidarités), labour market test requirement for most roles, and overview of the two main routes: standard employment and Passeport Talent.
  
  Module 2: Standard Work Authorisation Process Employer's DREETS application, labour market test advertisement period (minimum 3 weeks), required employer documents (CERFA form, proof of advertisement, job description), required worker documents (degree certificates, passport, criminal record), and consulate visa application after DREETS approval.
  
  Module 3: Passeport Talent Fast Track for Exceptional Profiles Passeport Talent categories (highly qualified employee, researcher, innovative company founder, investor, talent in arts and culture, employee on international assignment), no labour market test required, combined work and residence permit (titre de séjour Passeport Talent), salary threshold for highly qualified employees (1.5 times minimum wage), and application process directly through the French consulate.
  
  Module 4: Arrival, Titre de Séjour and Career Rights in France OFII validation after arrival, Carte de Séjour Salarié (employee residence card), right to change employer under certain conditions, social security contributions and benefits for workers, family reunification rights for Passeport Talent holders, and pathway to 10 year residence card and French citizenship.
