Course Description

The Netherlands offers a straightforward and well organised family reunification process for spouses and partners of Dutch citizens and legal residents. The process is managed by the IND and typically involves a combined residence permit and entry visa called the TEV (machtiging tot voorlopig verblijf). This course explains the eligibility rules, the civic integration requirement, and the full application process clearly and efficiently.

  Module 1: Eligibility and Sponsorship Requirements Eligible relationship types (marriage, registered partnership, long term cohabiting partnership), sponsor eligibility (Dutch citizen or legal resident with a valid permit), minimum income requirement for the sponsor (approximately EUR 1,713 per month net as a reference), and family reunion versus formation distinction.
  
  Module 2: Civic Integration Requirement and Application Basic civic integration exam (Basisexamen Inburgering in het Buitenland) requirement for most applicants including speaking and listening components, exemptions by nationality, IND online application for the TEV procedure, required documents (marriage certificate, income proof, accommodation, health insurance), processing timelines, and biometric enrollment at IND desk.
  
  Module 3: Arrival, Residence Permit and Integration Obligations MVV sticker visa collection, BRP address registration, IND residence permit collection, BSN (citizen service number) registration, DigiD setup, mandatory civic integration programme after arrival, work authorisation for the spouse, and pathway to permanent residency and naturalisation.
