Course Description

Canada attracts hundreds of thousands of international students each year. This course covers the full study permit process from institution selection and financial proof to online application, biometrics, and Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) rights. All figures in this course reflect the updated 2025 IRCC thresholds. Best suited for education consultants and visa professionals supporting students applying to Canadian universities and colleges.

    Module 1: Canadian Education System and Admission Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) explained, university and college types, English language requirements (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo), French language options for Quebec, acceptance letter requirements, and IRCC application account setup.

    Module 2: Financial Proof and Updated 2025 Requirements Current IRCC minimum living expense requirement of CAD 22,895 for a single student (effective September 1, 2025, in addition to first year tuition and travel costs), Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from participating Canadian banks as a widely accepted proof method, scholarship letters, sponsor documentation, and acceptable alternatives to GIC.

    Module 3: Study Permit Application and Supporting Documents IRCC online study permit application process, biometric enrollment overseas, police clearance requirements by nationality, medical examination where required, letter of explanation, and common application errors that cause delays or refusals.

    Module 4: Arrival, Study Conditions and Social Insurance Port of Entry process and study permit activation, SIN (Social Insurance Number) application, campus orientation, study permit conditions to follow, and resolving permit discrepancies at the border or after arrival.

    Module 5: Work Rights, PGWP and Pathway to Permanent Residency On campus work rights, off campus work (24 hours per week during academic session), co op and practicum authorisation, Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility and duration based on programme length, Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for Canadian graduates, and Provincial Nominee Programme (PNP) pathways to permanent residency.
