World Visa Academy – Daily Global Visa and Immigration Update Date: 10/6/2026

United States Breaking (Work, H-1B)

A federal court has handed the Trump administration a loss over its 100,000 dollar H-1B fee, with the dispute now turning on Congress's taxing power. Legal experts say more court rounds are likely before the picture is settled.

What it means: The huge fee that was meant to sit on top of H-1B petitions has been struck down for now, though the fight is not fully over.

Impact: Employers and skilled workers who were holding back because of the cost get breathing room. But do not treat this as final. Keep filings ready and watch for the appeal.

United States Active Alert (Green Card, Employment)

In the June 2026 Visa Bulletin, the State Department confirmed that all available EB-2 India immigrant visas for this fiscal year have been used, so the category is shut until 30 September 2026. EB-1 India has also moved back by about three months, while EB-3 is advancing for both Indian and Chinese nationals.

What it means: Indian applicants in the EB-2 employment green card line cannot get their visas approved for the rest of this US fiscal year.

Impact: Many Indian professionals will see no movement until October. Some may look at switching from EB-2 to EB-3, where dates are improving, so this is worth reviewing case by case.

Canada Active Alert (Work, Student)

A temporary public policy that let certain work permit holders study in Canada without a separate study permit will expire on 27 June 2026. Ontario, meanwhile, is in its first full month running its own framework that lets the province add or remove immigration streams on its own timetable.

What it means: The window allowing foreign workers to study without applying for a study permit is closing within weeks.

Impact: Any worker planning to enrol in a course should act before 27 June or be ready to file a proper study permit. After that date the shortcut is gone.

United Kingdom Active Alert (Student)

New student visa compliance rules for universities took effect on 1 June 2026, and a dedicated design pathway is being added to the Global Talent visa from 1 July 2026.

What it means: UK universities now face tighter checks on the students they sponsor, which raises the bar for institutions and applicants alike.

Impact: Students should pick well-established, compliant universities and keep their paperwork clean. Sloppy applications are far more likely to be refused under the new checks.

Hungary Breaking (Work)

Hungary's Guest Worker Program has ended as of 9 June 2026.

What it means: A key route that allowed foreign workers into Hungary is being shut down.

Impact: Employers relying on this program must look at other work permit options fast. Workers in the pipeline should get urgent advice on where they now stand.

Portugal Breaking (All categories)

A strike at Portugal's immigration agency is affecting immigration processing as of 9 June 2026.

What it means: Case handling and appointments in Portugal are being delayed by industrial action.

Impact: Anyone with a pending Portuguese application or a booked appointment should expect slowdowns and build in extra time before any deadline.

Poland Active Alert (Residency)

EU residence documents in Poland are set to expire on 3 August 2026 and holders need to file renewal applications soon.

What it means: A batch of residence documents is reaching its expiry, and renewals are time sensitive.

Impact: Residents in Poland should check their document dates now and start renewals early to avoid falling out of status in August.

United Arab Emirates Active Alert (Medical, Visitor)

Dubai's GDRFA and the Dubai Health Authority signed an agreement on 2 June 2026 to launch a fully digital smart medical visa, letting hospitals sponsor patients online and issue renewable 90 or 180 day entry permits as QR codes.

What it means: Medical travel to Dubai is going paperless, with faster sponsorship and clear digital permits.

Impact: Clients travelling to the UAE for treatment, or employees who need care before starting an assignment, will see shorter lead times. A useful new option to flag for medical cases.

No major new policy changes or big announcements reported from other countries worldwide today.

Pro Tip for Immigration Consultants: Hard expiry dates are where cases quietly die. This week alone you have Canada's study policy ending 27 June, Poland's residence documents expiring 3 August, and the US EB-2 India shutdown until 30 September. Build one shared deadline tracker across all your destination countries, sorted by date, and review it every Monday. Reaching out to affected clients two to three weeks early turns a looming crisis into a routine renewal, and that reliability is exactly what keeps clients loyal.
