Applicants generally need an endorsement letter, valid passport or identity document, evidence of English-language ability and financial evidence showing sufficient personal maintenance funds. Depending on circumstances, a tuberculosis test result and certified translations may also be required. Additional business or personal evidence can be requested where relevant.

The applicant first needs an assessment and endorsement from an approved endorsing body.
