USA

Big Alert – Today is the last day to file many employment-based green card applications using the easier “Dates for Filing” chart.

What it means: USCIS is still allowing applicants to file using the more generous chart that is active for the whole month of April. From tomorrow (1 May), they will switch back to the stricter “Final Action Dates” chart.

Impact: If your client’s priority date qualifies under today’s chart, they can submit their green card application right now. Missing this deadline can delay their green card by many months or even years. This is a high-pressure day for consultants and applicants.

Schengen Countries

The new Entry/Exit System (EES) is now fully live and running at all borders.

What it means: Non-EU travellers no longer get a passport stamp. Instead, their fingerprints and photo are taken and recorded digitally every time they enter or exit.

Impact: First-time travellers to Europe may face longer queues at airports and land borders. It also means the 90/180 day rule is now automatically tracked by the system – overstaying will be detected instantly.

No major new policy changes or big announcements reported from other countries worldwide today.
