World Visa Academy – Daily Global Visa and Immigration Update
Date: 11/06/2026

United States Major Alert (Student and Work)
What it means: The State Department has confirmed that all employment based EB-2 India green card numbers for this financial year are now finished. The category is closed until 30 September 2026, so US embassies and USCIS cannot issue or approve these visas for Indian applicants for the rest of the year. EB-1 India has also moved backwards.

Impact: Indian skilled workers in the EB-2 line will see no movement at all for months. People who hoped to file or get approved this summer must now wait. Consultants should reset client expectations and look at whether anyone qualifies to shift into EB-3, which is still moving forward for India and China.

Estonia Big Alert (Work and Skilled Worker)
What it means: Estonia has rolled out significant reforms that make it much easier for companies to hire foreign workers, with more flexibility on employment conditions.

Impact: This opens a fresh, less crowded European door for skilled workers and IT professionals who keep missing out in bigger markets. A good talking point for clients who want Europe but feel boxed out of Germany or the Netherlands.

Kuwait Alert (Visitor)
What it means: Kuwait has temporarily stopped issuing commercial visit visas.

Impact: Business travellers planning short trips to Kuwait need to pause and confirm status before booking anything. Anyone with a pending commercial visit plan should hold off until the suspension is lifted.

Costa Rica Alert (Family and Humanitarian)
What it means: Costa Rica has introduced a special permit for nationals of Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

Impact: This gives people from these four countries a clearer legal way to stay and regularise their status in Costa Rica. Useful for consultants handling Latin American clients who currently have no stable pathway.

European Union and Schengen Big Alert (All categories)
What it means: From 12 June, EU member states must produce monthly combined data pulling from their visa, entry-exit, asylum and travel authorisation systems. All these systems are now linked.

Impact: Overstays, visa misuse and breaches of stay limits will be spotted far more easily across the whole Schengen zone. Anyone moving around Europe on a visa or work permit must follow the conditions exactly, because the room for error is shrinking fast.

Sweden Alert (Student and Skilled Worker)
What it means: From today, new rules give foreign researchers and PhD students more freedom to stay and work in Sweden after finishing their studies, while also adding tighter checks on student residence permits.

Impact: Good news for genuine researchers wanting to settle, but universities now carry more reporting duties and permits can be cancelled if conditions are not met. Strong profiles win, weak ones get caught.

Hong Kong Alert (Work and Long Term Residency)
What it means: Hong Kong now lets people on most work, talent and investment schemes apply to extend their stay up to three months before their current permit expires.

Impact: This removes a lot of last minute stress around renewals. Consultants should remind clients to file early and use the extra window to prepare clean paperwork.

Vietnam Alert (Work)
What it means: From 15 June, work permits in Ho Chi Minh City will be issued fully electronically, and these digital permits carry the same legal weight as paper ones.

Impact: Faster, cleaner processing for foreign workers in Vietnam's biggest commercial hub. A smooth example to show clients that Southeast Asia is modernising quickly.

No major new policy changes or big announcements reported from other countries worldwide today.

Pro Tip for Immigration Consultants: When one country slams a door, like the US closing EB-2 India for the year, do not just deliver bad news. Have a second option ready in the same conversation. Clients stay loyal to the consultant who says, that route is blocked, but here is the one that is still open.
